How to Wash Rhinestone Underwear Without Damaging It

Rhinestone underwear can be eye-catching and fun, but it also requires extra care to keep the stones in place and the fabric looking good. Whether it’s a rhinestone thong or another embellished piece, washing it the wrong way can lead to loose stones, snagged fabric, or loss of sparkle. The good news? With a few careful steps, you can safely clean it and extend its lifespan.

Always Hand-Wash When Possible: Hand-washing is the safest option for rhinestone thong underwear. Fill a small basin with cool or lukewarm water and add a mild detergent made for delicate fabrics. Gently swish the garment in the water—don’t scrub, twist, or wring it out, as that can loosen the rhinestones.

Turn It Inside Out: Before washing, turn the underwear inside out. This reduces direct friction on the rhinestones and helps protect them from rubbing against other surfaces.

Avoid Harsh Products: Skip bleach, fabric softener, and strong detergents. These chemicals can weaken the glue that holds rhinestones in place and may damage delicate fabrics like lace or mesh.

Never Use the Dryer: Heat is one of the fastest ways to ruin rhinestones. After washing, gently press out excess water with a clean towel and lay the garment flat to air dry. Keep it away from direct sunlight or heat sources.

Use a Mesh Bag if Machine Washing Is Unavoidable: If you must use a washing machine, place the item in a mesh lingerie bag, select the delicate cycle, and use cold water. Even then, hand-washing is still the better choice for long-term care.

Store With Care: Once dry, store rhinestone underwear separately or in a soft pouch to prevent snagging or stones rubbing against other clothing.

With a little patience and gentle handling, your rhinestone pieces can stay secure, comfortable, and sparkling wear after wear.
